This campaign started with two people, 

Cherise and her son Malik. 

Others were invited. 

Not everyone came.

 They showed up anyway.

They showed up when it was inconvenient.
They showed up when no one was watching.
They showed up when the numbers were small.
They showed up because their health demanded it.

They showed up because the mission was bigger than the moment.

The lack of support did not break her. It fueled her. You cannot stop a determined woman.

David Garcia of the American Heart Association looked her in the eyes and told her, "AHA & NSU Florida is your community." 

Her mother spoke a word over her life that she carries to this day: "When the doors start opening for you, don't look back." Cherise never has. She keeps her focus forward with vision.  Her mentors have spoken over her life as well. Dr. Cindy Trimm told her she is going from overlooked to overflowing. Dr. Pam told her she belongs behind the camera speaking. When mentors of that caliber speak over your life, you do not shrink. You rise. 

What she is teaching her sons,  mentees, and every young person watching from afar is this, you do not wait for permission. You do not wait for a crowd. You do not wait for validation. Start with what you have, where you are, and show up anyway. 

The vision does not shrink because the room is small. Purpose does not pause because people do not come. You stay focus on the vision by taking massive action. You let the work speak. You build with excellence, resilience, integrity, and vision. That is leadership. That is legacy.

What began as a mother and son with a mission has grown into a movement. Heart disease does not wait. Heart diseaese is a sneaky devil. 

Awareness does not happen by accident. Change does not come to those who stand on the sideline.

Every face in this gallery made a choice. They chose their health. They chose the mission. 

They chose to show up.
